Summer Camp

The Allegro Music Academy Summer Camp runs from May 31-July 1, from 10am-1pm for half day, and 9am-3pm for full day. This will be a fun class for children ages 4 to 7, as well as a group for children age 8-15. All classes are limited to 10 to 12 children per class.

Children are taught rhythm, coordination, & concentration through various methods including Orff based principals. Our activities involve developing an awareness of rhythm through movement games and singing games. We also use many percussion instruments such as drums, shakers, rhythm sticks, triangles, etc.

Melody: Many concepts designed to develop an awareness of melody are covered during the camp. Children learn a number of songs. The development of the ear is stressed through imitative songs & activities.

Learning to listen: Children will watch musical videos, & listen to different styles of music on CDs & live instruments.

Instrument recognition: Children are taught to recognize the various instruments in the orchestra, both by sound & by sight.

This program is not designed to push children toward any one instrument, but rather to give an overall foundation that will apply to the instrument of their choice, once they are old enough for instrumental instruction. Our goal is to help every child to develop a life-long love of music. Our program covers the three basic foundations of music in great detail.

  • Rhythm development
  • Coordination and concentration development
  • Melody
  • Learning to sing
  • Learning to listen
  • Making music with percussion instruments
  • Recognition of orchestral instruments
